FLOT. installed at a third location: Zeewolde

At the end of July, FLOT. was installed in Zeewolde for the first time, the third location after Oudenbosch and Bergen op Zoom. In a new waterfront residential area, the floating modules were attached to the steel sheet pile wall, creating room for bank plants here too, in a place where only steel used to be visible.

Third location for FLOT.

With Zeewolde, the number of locations where FLOT. is used continues to grow. The approach is the same as in Oudenbosch and Bergen op Zoom: modules of stainless steel and cork, attached to the sheet pile wall, that move with the water level and offer room for plants above and below the water. Dutch Water Tech BV and MH Poly Consultants & Engineers carried out the installation.

The modules have just been installed and are still bare; the plants still need to take root. In the coming months, the team will monitor how the plants develop and how the sheet pile wall holds up under changing conditions – as with the earlier locations, it is still too early to draw conclusions about the effect on biodiversity and water quality.
